Marketing Genius

Check out this ad for Huggies limited edition denim diapers:

Whoever did this commercial deserves a raise. Seriously. Genius...and hilarious. One of the roomies and I sat with our jaws dropped and started laughing hysterically. If I had a kid (knock on wood I don't and would like to keep it that way for a LONG while) I would totally go out and buy these. I mean really..."I've got chic in my pants"? "I poo in blue"? "The coolest you'll ever look pooping your pants"? Really. They really said it. All while making a baby look like a fashionable stud.

Props to JWT, the company who created this one.

Signed, Sealed, Delivered...

...I'm official! Beginning next week I'll be a program coordinator -- same place, new title! I'm very excited, but a little nervous because of the high expectations in place for this new position. But I just wanted to share my news. Promotion = pay raise, but I'll be moving to the other end of the hall, which is a bit of a bummer because I enjoy being around my current coworkers who are closer to my age. Instead I'll be next to the boss man.

So I hope you will all support me and throw lots of good ideas my way for new initiatives that I can start.

GO CATS!!!!

Magazine Deal

So I know that I have a ridiculous amount of magazine subscriptions -- okay, not THAT ridiculous, but I do get InStyle, Cosmo, Health and Real Simple. But my subscription to Health ran out in May! Luckily, Amazon.com came through for me again...

Right now you can get a 12 month subscription to Health magazine for $5.00. (Yeah, you read that right.) So if anyone is interested, hop on over and get your order in before time runs out! You can find it here!

Does that sounds like a sales pitch or what? But seriously, I do really enjoy the articles, tips and recipes each month. Plus, it's a light and easy read for the pool or gym, without blaring headlines like "The Moves Your Man Wants" that make you feel super uncomfortable around that hot trainer or your mom's BFF who happened to grab the treadmill next to you. Not that I would know since I rarely go to the gym. But I would assume...

Anyway...just an FYI if anyone is a magazine junkie like me!

Wedding Weekend

I spent 3 days in Paducah, Kentucky this past weekend for the wedding of a good friend and sorority sister. The beau and I spent Saturday experiencing the town and had lunch at the fine establishment known as Whaler's Catch.

A fish po'boy sandwich filled me up quickly! Yum!

Afterwards we walked off the big meal down by the river and through downtown. I was enjoying the sight-seeing and wanted to go in the antique stores, but the beau wasn't quite so thrilled that there wasn't anything "from this decade." Still, the sun was shining and the sky was blue.

He was ignoring me in this picture. I think he was embarrassed that I looked like such a tourist, but at least I wasn't wearing cut off jorts and bandannas like the crew a few yards away from us.

Brooke's wedding on Saturday night was beautiful. She looked absolutely stunning, and I couldn't get over how much she seemed to look like a mature, young lady. She just exuded class. The wedding was a traditional Baptist ceremony. Everything was simple, traditional and classy. Nothing too over the top, but each detail thought out. I hope that one day I have as much luck and love (and luck in love!) that she did! She deserves all the best and has my wishes for all the blessings life and marriage can provide.

It was my pleasure to be part of her day, and I am so honored to call her a friend!

P.S. I have no idea what the heck was up with me being so shiny! Seriously. Argh.

It's the little things

The highlights of my day today:

1. A caramel brownie from our student worker. dee-lic-ious. It reminded me of a "turtle" because it was chocolate, nuts, and had a layer of caramel in the middle. So good. Must. Get. Recipe.

2. I would love to try to bake the peanut butter filled yellow cake with chocolate icing and the caprese skewers I saw on Big Girls, Small Kitchen. Yum.

3. Who knew you could register your Kroger cards online and download coupons straight to your card? How convenient - especially for a coupon clipper like me! You can even print a list of the coupons you have loaded as a pseudo shopping list. Just shop, swipe and save. Genius!

4. My fickle temperatured office (yes, I made that word up I think) has revealed a new secret to me. Normally it's like "Oh it's January? Better make it 90 degrees in here. April? We'll stick to a steady 63 degrees." So lately...after forcing me into pants and sweaters, along with keeping a blanket and heating pad handy at the office....it has decided to spike again. This week it was holding steady at around 79 degrees -- and did I mention we don't have a dehumidifier in the building? Then Willy, the maintenance guy, comes around today and lets me know that the changeover switch is broken for the main heating/cooling unit. So if I set my thermostat on about 85 or 90 it actually makes my fan unit blow COLD air.

A. I never knew that thermostat served a purpose except to tell me the temp in the office.

B. I didn't know that it controlled the temp of my fan unit. I thought the unit was broken so I never used it except for heat on the random occasions the heat was on and my office was cold.

So now I may have a decent feeling office (with the exception of the humidity) for at least the next few weeks. And oooh...the humidity...did I mention it makes the printer play fun games like "One for you, Two for me" with the letterhead? Oh the joys. All I have to say about that is THANK GOODNESS I don't have children yet -- my patience isn't up to par.

It's the little things like brownies, coupons and A/C that get me through the days :)

Something in the Water

I love receiving random texts from one of my best friends (yet to be introduced to the blog...we'll call her K-Rae).

This is the one I got at 8:30 a.m. CT today:

K-Rae: There is something in the water back home that makes people either fertile or stupid. Good thing I stopped drinking the water a long time ago.

Random and hilarious. See why we're friends?

Hope something makes you laugh today!

Closet Freak

No, not like that. Get your head out of the gutter. I mean that I really can be a freak about closets. I've never had a large walk-in, so I've become pretty good about working with the space I have (or so I like to think). Since the move I hadn't yet gotten my closet in order. Everything was just thrown in, and it was impossible to find anything that I needed. Polos? Nowhere to be found. Cream colored cardi? Missing. It's enough to drive anyone mad. So last night I had a little time to myself and decided to tackle the project.

Here is what I started with:
Everything was just thrown in during the moving process. If it was on a hanger, it went on the rack. If it wasn't in a drawer, it went in the closet. I couldn't find any of the clothes I was looking for! So after a little TLC and organization, here is what I ended up with:

Much better, right? And still a little extra room left over! I put similar shirts together on cascading hangers...crew neck tees, v-neck tees, cardigans, button ups, polos, etc. Pants went together, skirts went together, and dresses lined up based on sleeve length/style. Other shirts were just put in order by sleeve length and color. Sweatshirts and jeans got their own shelf on my wire rack, and I had enough extra pieces of the wire rack to put together another cube to help corral purses and keep them from losing their shape. A little OCD, but it makes things much easier to find!

Feels like I'm finally making this into a new home :)

If I Had a Million Dollars...

...or even just $220 dollars to spare, I would buy this:

It's bright, feminine, floral, flatters the hips and enhances the chest with the ruffles...oh, and did I mention that I think it is B-E-A-utiful?

(While I put this on my "Want" list, can I also add the abs to go with it? Thanks.)

MJ
